Custom hand thrown porcelain pottery
from the Appalachian Mountains of
North Carolina.
Dancing Dragonfly Pottery pieces are made from a fine grolleg porcelain custom mixed clay and formed on the potter's wheel. Each piece is hand decorated with mason stains, underglazes and slip trailing. Scraffito, a technique of carving through the painted surface design to reveal the white clay underneath is also used in some designs. The work is decorated while in a green or unfired state, then bisqued fired, waxed, glazed and fired again in an electric kiln. Learn more about the artist, Troy Amastar. |
